Helping in America |
| |
“If there is any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not deter or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again.” – William Penn (1644-1718) |

|
| |
Since its inception in 1995, Himalaya Herbal Healthcare’s American division has consistently and conscientiously looked for opportunities to support the local community in which they’re based, and to lend a larger hand in times of national need on a greater scale.
Reaching out in times of vast disaster, or simply providing ongoing acts of corporate responsibility in smaller, simpler ways closer to home, Himalaya’s efforts over the past decade have been a steady part of the U.S. mission.

CLOSER TO HOME – FOOD AND GIFTS FOR NEEDY CHILDREN |
| |
|
| |
At different points throughout the year, Himalaya’s American operation supports the immediate community in the Houston neighborhood their U.S home office resides in.
Every May, the company helps WHAM, the West Houston Assistance Ministries, by providing food for children who would otherwise go without breakfast and lunch during the summer months when school is out of session.
On the company clock and in their personal spare time, Himalaya employees band together to gather food staples for WHAM’s Houston food pantry, doing their part in feeding dozens of hungry and underprivileged children. Himalaya staff members donate regularly to WHAM’s food pantry and thrift store.
In addition, our employees helping children commitment goes even further. Each year, Himalaya’s American employees help the children of nearby Sands Point Elementary School – many of them from low-income families – by donating school supplies and Christmas gifts.

PERSONAL CARE FOR PEOPLE IN NEED |
| |
|
| |
All across America, the Salvation Army has been helping people in need for over 140 years, and Houston is home to one of its longest-established chapters, serving the greater community since 1889.
When the call was raised to replenish dwindling supplies, Himalaya responded with ten pallets of personal care products, providing care and comfort for literally thousands of people in need.
Likewise, when the Fort Bend County Women’s Shelter asked community business leaders to join the fight against domestic violence, Himalaya’s American division responded generously, with multiple contributions of shampoos and conditioners, facial scrubs, washes and creams, and soothing body lotions.
Providing shelter for survivors of domestic violence and their children, the organization serves over 1,700 people a year, many of whom have been provided with a much-needed touch of comfort by their unseen friends at Himalaya.

TOUCHING THE LIVES OF THE LOW-INCOME COMMUNITY |
| |
|
| |
When Himalaya learned that local practitioner Prachi Garodia, M.D. was providing pro-bono care to a much under-served population – Houston’s low income families – they immediately offered assistance.
Already a proponent of Himalaya herbal supplements in her private practice, Dr. Garodia began carrying over her natural approach to health care in her charity work as well, offering free healthcare services at a Sugar Land church clinic twice a month.
Himalaya supplies Dr. Garodia’s clinic with herbal supplements at a minimal cost so she is able to send many of her patients (only about 10% of whom have health insurance) home with Himalaya supplements free of charge.

HELPING LOCALLY WITH CHRONIC ILLNESS |
| |
|
| |
The Houston Buyers Club (HBC) is a nonprofit 501c3 organization that has been helping people living with chronic illness manage their side effects since 1996. They provide clients with dietician services, physician support, peer education and access to vital nutritional supplements.
Those who can’t afford to purchase supplements due to financial hardships are able to receive them free through donations made from individuals and companies like Himalaya.
Himalaya donates 35% of HBC’s monthly purchases back to the organization to help those in need. Liv.52® (known in the U.S. market as LiverCare®) is in particular charitable demand.
“What LiverCare does, and we’ve seen the evidence from laboratory results from our members,” says HBC founder and executive director Fred Walters, “is normalize or lower liver enzymes, and in addition it improves patients’ other liver function tests.”
Walters says since those who visit HBC can often spend upwards of $250 a month on supplements needed to manage their illnesses, the assistance from Himalaya is extremely valuable.
