Here’s a sweet-tooth satisfying recipe from the 1970’s that’s enjoying a new revival on Facebook and food blogs. It uses no flour, no sugar and tastes great. This fast and chewy granola-like cookie fix has been pleasing sugar-conscious nibblers for generations!

Makes: 10–15 cookies

Prep: 5 minutes

Cook: 12–15 minutes


  • 3 extra ripe bananas
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil or canola oil
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 tbsp. vanilla extract


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Mash bananas in a bowl and stir in the remaining ingredients.
  3. Drop large teaspoons of cookie dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets.
  4. Bake 12-15 minutes or until light brown.

For tasty variations, try craisins instead of raisins, almond extract instead of vanilla extract, or toss in a teaspoon of cinnamon!
